Good day!
A properly cleaned and maintained pellet stove should not create creosote, the sticky, flammable substance that causes chimney fires. Pellets burn very cleanly and create only a layer of fine fly-ash as a byproduct of combustion. The grade of pellet fuel affects the performance and ash output. Premium grade pellets produce less than one percent ash content, while standard or low grade pellets produce a range from two to four percent ash.

I have a cornflame energy corn stove. I burn a mix of corn and pellets with no issues. I get air temps at the blower anywhere from 175-195 degrees depending how high the feed is.
When running corn only, the clinkers tend to be ridiculous and hard to get out, sometimes actually requiring me to chisel the darn Crap out. With a mix, there's no issue with that.
Honestly, if I were you I would just buy a couple bags of pellets and try them out. You're not going to damage anything.

interesting post thanks. we most definitely have to keep an eye on new develpments as fossil fuels will obviously not last forever. i personally believe we will find a solution. we are a resourceful species, to say the least.
